[ 20 Dec 25 ] Fleetwood Town v GILLS Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Thu Dec 11, 2025 8:39 pm

- Fleetwood have had great success against the Gills - winning 9 of the 19 meetings and losing just 4. The Gills last win came back in November 2018 (at Priestfield) and are winless in the 8 played since, losing 4 of them.
- The Gills have lost 5 of their 10 visits to Fleetwood in all competitions. Their only win there came on the 22nd December 2017 and they have seen 3 draws and 2 defeats since.
- Fleetwood have won 8 and lost 3 of their last 16 league and cup games and are unbeaten in their last 4 in all competitions. They are unbeaten in 12 at home since a 1-4 defeat to Crewe in mid-August. The Gills have won 1 and lost 6 of their last 14 and are unbeaten in 5.
- Despite Fleetwood being unbeaten in 12 league games at home, they have gone behind 8 times at home - the joint highest amount in League 2. They have conceded 8 goals in their previous 6 games and went behind 7 times in those matches, recovering to win 4 and draw 2 of them.
- Fleetwood have lost just 1 of their last 12 home matches in the league and 2 of their previous 19. Both of those 2 home defeats saw them concede 4 goals.
- Fleetwood are 1 of 2 sides yet to enjoy a home clean sheet but they are also 1 of 4 sides yet to suffer a home blank sheet. Home and away, they have only failed to score once in 13 league games (21 scored) and only got their first clean sheet in 14 in their previous match (19 conceded).

[Sat 20th December 2025] EFL Sky Bet League 2: Fleetwood Town v Gillingham FC
Opposition Manager: Pete Wild Matchday Team: Jay Lynch, Kayden Hughes, Finlay Potter, Toby Mullarkey, Lewis McCann (Zech Medley), [c] Elliot Bonds, Matty Virtue-Thick (Jordan Davies), Ethan Ennis, Mark Helm (Harrison Neal), Ryan Graydon (Will Davies), Ched Evans
Opposition League Position: Sky Bet League 2 (11th)
Referee: Stephen Parkinson
Attendance: 3,001 (261)

(15.00) Kick Off [ 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 ]
(15.14) GOAL! Fleetwood Town 0-1 Gillingham: Dack
(15.34) Sam Gale and the 'keeper collide in the penalty area. The referee ignores appeals for a penalty and a goal kick is given.
(15.40) Little drags the ball back for a simple Gills tap in but, rather than a shot, it deflects off a Gills boot (possibly Palmer-Houlden) and wide for a goal kick.
(15.45) There will be a minimum of 3 additional minutes.
(15.46) A Fleetwood corner looks to have been cleared off the line by Palmer-Houlden when all it needed was a nod in following Turner's attempted clearance.
(15.50) Half time 0-1
The Gills have been leading at the break in just 1 of their away league games this season, a game they won. Fleetwood have been losing at the break in 4 of their home league games, recovering to win 2 of them and draw 1 (the most home points recovered in League 2).

(16.05) The second half kicks off.
(16.13) GOAL! Fleetwood Town 1-1 Gillingham: Graydon
(16.18) The Gills fail to clear properly and Turner, out of position, stays up to deny Graydon (who appeared to try to nutmeg Jake rather than take it around him) a second of the match.
(16.22) Dack flicks the ball on with his head. It hits the inside of the post and bounces out and into the arms of the Fleetwood 'keeper.
(16.31) Ennis curls a free kick over the wall and it takes a little touch, forcing Turner into a fantastic save. The corner comes in and a shot flashes narrowly wide of the post.
(16.41) Penalty! Sam Gale fouls Ched Evans in the box.
(16.42) Turner saves the penalty from Evans and tips it around the post for a corner.
(16.45) GOAL! Fleetwood Town 2-1 Gillingham: Medley
(16.50) The fourth official indicates a minimum of 5 additional minutes.
(16.56) FULL TIME 2-1
