- The Gills face higher league opposition in Round 1 of the EFL League Cup for a third consecutive season. They last faced same level or lower division opponents in 2022/3 when they also opened their campaign against AFC Wimbledon (away from home).
- The Gills' first round record at home to higher league opponents in this competition stands at 6 wins, 1 draw and 7 defeats. Against all opponents at Priestfield in Round 1, the Gills have won 24, drawn 7 and lost 11.
- In games between the Gills and Wimbledon, the home side have won each of the last 5 meetings and the Gills have won 4 of the last 6 ties between the sides in all competitions.
- In all competitions, the Gills have won the last 3 home games against Wimbledon and are unbeaten in 5 (4 wins) since Wimbledon's last win at Priestfield in February 2020 - a second consecutive win for them in Medway.
- Including the playoffs last season, AFC Wimbledon have won 5 of their last 6 matches. After a winless run of 4 away games last season, culminating with a defeat at Priestfield, Wimbledon won 3 in a row including the play off final until their opening day loss at Luton.

And my new favorite team BROMLEY FC go marching on ,while Gillinghams high scoring forwards get to rest for the night. One missed penalty is bad enough two inexcusable until you get to the 9th or 10th round .
