- After 3 of the last 5 seasons starting at Priestfield, the Gills away fixture at Accrington will be their 7th away starting fixture in the last 10 seasons. The Gills have won 6 and lost just 1 of the last 10 first games of the season. The last 9 away saw 4 Gills wins and 2 defeats.
- The Gills lead the wins over Accrington by 11 wins to 6 with a further 5 matches ending level. Following 3 consecutive Gills wins, both of last season's matches did not feature a Gills win after a 1-2 home loss and a 1-1 away draw.
- In the last 13 games between the Gills and Accrington, the home sides have only won twice - both 1-0 wins at Priestfield for the Gills. The Gills draw away at Accrington last season ended 5 straight Gills wins but made it 7 unbeaten there since the 3-4 loss in January 2012.
- Last season, Accrington conceded the most fouls in League 2 with 655, an average of 14.24 per game. Because of this, they picked up a league-high of 127 yellow cards.
- Last season, the Gills conceded the fewest 2nd half goals (21), letting in just 2 in the final 14 games. Accrington conceded the most (44), letting in 11 in their final 7 games including 3 in 3 consecutive matches - something the Gills only did once all season.

(15:00) Kick Off [ 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 ]
(15.26). McKenzie, on the half volley and unmarked at the far post, blazes over the bar from just a few yards out to register the games first real attempt at goal.
(15.37) Jonny Williams tricks his way round his marker and taps forward for Gbode. He shifts onto his right foot and curls an effort quite high over the bar but it is the games first real creative effort at goal.
(15.45) 2 minutes will be added to the half.
(15.47) Just seconds before the whistle blows, an Accrington header across goal dribbles just wide of the far post.
(15.47) Half time 0-0 [47:01]

(16.04) The second half kicks off.

(16.25) GOAL! Accrington Stanley 1-0 Gillingham: Walton
(16.34) An Accrington free kick is sent deep to the far post. Morris did just enough whilst on the floor by blocking an attempt to lift it over him just a few feet from goal.
(16.38) GOAL! Accrington Stanley 1-1 Gillingham: Matthews (OG) Little's corner appeared to go straight in but replays show a slight brush off the head of a defender right on the line.
(16.49) The fourth official 4 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the match.
(16.50) A quick Stanley break ends in a whipped through ball into the box where a vital outstretched leg deflects the ball away from danger when a simple tap would beat Morris.
(16.51) Another Accrington ball in is headed towards his own goal by a Gills defender and Morris heads off the line with an attacker waiting to capitalise.
(16.53) FULL TIME 1-1 [96:03]

The own goal was later awarded to Little so he scored directly from a corner.
