Preston (A) - 26 Apr 14

Postby Garawa » Fri Apr 25, 2014 6:48 pm

Draws dominate the results between the two sides. 21 of the 52 ties have been tied and 14 of the 26 at Deepdale (where the Gills have won just 3 times).

This fixture was last played in the league in April 2005 (although the Gills lost a cup tie last season). We last won there in January 2002.

Preston haven't lost any of their last 11 home league games, have won their last 4 and have suffered just the 1 defeat in 16 at Deepdale.

After a home league spell last season that saw no wins in 11 games, Preston have since won 16 and lost only 2 of the following 29 home games.

Although Preston's home record is slightly better, they have scored less and conceded more opening goals than they have away from home.

Joe Garner is the hosts top scorer with 23 goals this season. Next comes Paul Gallacher with 8. Garner's 23 goals came from only 49 shots on target however these were only 39.5% of his shots as a whopping 75 went wide.

Gills haven't scored a first half goal in their last 7 away games and only 2 in the last 14. 11 have been scored in the second half of those 14.

Former England striker Kevin Davies has 5 goals from 43 appearances and only manages a shot at goal this season once every 2.4 games.

Despite being the 12th highest League 1 scorers, we have only managed 19 first half goals. Only 2 League 1 sides have scored fewer. However we have scored 39 second half goals and only 4 sides have scored more.

Before today both Cody McDonald and Adebayo Akinfenwa had conceded 60 fouls in all competitions. Kevin Davies has conceded the most league fouls for Preston with 72.

Before today, Preston topped the League 1 shots off target table with 362, 158 more than their shots on target. The Gills have had 242 shots off target, 65 more than their shots on target tally.

Preston have conceded more fouls than any other League 1 side (557). It is 73 more than the Gills and 203 more than Walsall's total. With 600 fouls last season, they were also the worst fouling League 1 side in 2012/13 as well!
