I know it is only pre-season but do I see DEJA VU all over again, four games ,three whole goals against teams like Whitstable who we should have buried without breaking a sweat. Still no 15 goals a season or two ten goals a season forwards bought in to take Gillingham into the top 7, looks today with a couple of weeks to go before the season starts ,that this season is going to look a lot like last season, only with 20 draws instead of 16.
I often wonder if the two that own GFC have ever looked at an end of season table,I do not think they can have or they will have noticed that if your not scoring 60 goals a season, the chances of you getting into the play offs is just about impossible. I guess they think Gareth is some sort of miracle worker that's going to turn the team into a contender with basically the same team as we had last year. I just hope after Christmas when were sitting in 12th /13th place and he has not got any real goal scorers he doesn't get board and call it a day, he was quiet flaky last year leaving his old club 2/3 of the way through the season to join the Gills. His excuse was they did not spend money on players , seems he jumped out of the frying pan into the fire.

It does feel that way a little doesn't it however the Southampton games were against decent players in a former Premier league team and was all about minutes whilst the other 2 only featured players for 45 minutes.

Maybe the arrival of Vokes is expected to get 10 and Andrews a bit more. As he's featured well so far, he is like a new striker signing. We still have Nevitt also capable of decent numbers so it's down to Ainsworth to get them firing and he's been pretty good at that in the past.

Whilst accepting your point 1066 , it was the youth team that played Whitstable , not the first team squad , so the result is not that unusual .

The Gills look like what they are, last years team with a couple of players added who will contribute very little in the way of goal scoring our ONE OBVIOUS WEEKNESS.
