[ 8 Oct 22 ] Crewe Alexandra v GILLS Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:46 pm

- The Gills trail by just 1 win in games with Crewe - 22 to the hosts 23. Just 8 of the 53 meetings have been drawn, the last coming in 2011 13 games ago.
- The Gills have won 4 of their last 6 trips to Crewe, the last of which were successive 1-0 wins in November 2020 and October 2015. These were followed by their most recent visit in November last year which ended in a 2-0 loss.
- Crewe started the season by winning 3 of their opening 4 league games. Since then they have won 1 of the 7 games played since. That win was their only win in 4 home games and is sandwich by 2 defeats in their most recent home games played.
- Crewe have taken a lead in all of their home league games this season. Along with Stevenage and Sutton, they are the only League 2 sides to have managed this so far this season. Despite this, their home record is W3, D1 and L2.
- Just 2 second half goals have occured in the Gills' last 7 league games. 1 was scored by the Gills in their most recent league game against Sutton (their first goal after half time this season) and 1 was conceded (they haven't conceded any for 5 games).

(15.01) Kick Off [ 4 - 4 - 2 ]

(15.03) Gills start with Mandron and Kashket up front, both at Crewe last season. Crewe get into a good position but slice a shot wide.

(15.12) GOAL! Crewe Alexandra 0-1 Gillingham: Kashket

(15.19) GOAL! Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Gillingham: Agyei

(15.25) Alex MacDonald curls a shot just wide of the post.

(15.26) From a tight angle, McKenzie's cross cum shot hits the side netting.

(15.47) Law surprises everyone with a shot which is blocked and wins the Gills a corner.

(15.48) Half time 1-1

(16.04) The second half kicks off.

(16.10) A Crewe attacker gets the wrong side of Ehmer and the pair collide. The Gills maybe a bit fortunate not to have conceded a penalty.

(16.48) No attempts at goal for the Gills so far in this second half but the best chance falls to the hosts whose top scorer, Baker-Richardson, heads over.

(16.52) FULL TIME 1-1
