- All 3 results between the sides are very close. The Gills have won 15 of the games, Mansfield have won 18 and 17 have been drawn. The away sides have won just 4 of the 50 ties with 2 of those occurring in the last 4 meetings after 29 without an away win.
- The Gills last played Mansfield in the 1995/6 season when the Gills won both the home and away fixtures without conceding. Mansfield won both fixtures the season before it and the 3 preceding seasons each saw the home side win the tie.
- Both the Gills and Mansfield have each won 5 of the last 10 meetings after both games were drawn in the 1987/8 season. This followed 2 wins apiece from the 4 games played after both games were drawn in the 1978/9 season.
- Mansfield lost their visit to Priestfield in January 1996 and won the tie before in October 1994, their only win in 20 visits. They have lost 12 of those 20 trips and failed to score in 8 of their last 9.
- Mansfield have won 4 of their last 6 league and cup games, including 1 against Manchester City U21s, scoring 13 goals in the process. Their 3-1 win at Doncaster on Tuesday ended 3 successive defeats on the road.
- Last season, Mansfield failed to win in 14 league and cup games (9 defeats) between August and October before winning 17 of the next 22 in all competitions. Since that winless streak, and up to now, Mansfield have won 30 of the 49 games played in all competitions.
- Mansfield have the joint highest shots on target in the division (42), 24 fewer than the Gills' joint lowest total of 18. Mansfield have taken 18 more shots on target than they have conceded, the best total in League 2.
- Mansfield have won the most corners in League 2 (62) and conceded the fewest amount (24). The Gills have won 44 and conceded 36.
- Mansfield are 1 of 3 sides in League 2 to have scored 9 second half goals, the joint highest total. The Gills are the only side yet to score 1.
