[ 18 Apr 22 ] GILLS v Fleetwood Town Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Tue Apr 12, 2022 1:28 pm

- Fleetwood have won as many of the games (8) with the Gills as there have been Gills wins and draws combined (4 of each). Since a 3-0 home win for the Gills in November 2018, the Gills are winless in 5 meetings and have lost all of the last 3.
- Fleetwood are winless in 3 in the league (all home games). They have won just 1 of their last 17 league games, a 3-1 win at Crewe in their most recent away game which followed 5 defeats in 6 away games. That win is 1 of only 2 away wins in their last last 15 league trips, a run which includes 9 defeats.
- Both sides have lost 5 league games in a row this season - the Gills back in Nov/Dec and Fleetwood more recently in March. Fleetwood have lost 24 of their 48 league and cup (8 in the last 13) games whilst the Gills have 23 of their 50 (5 of their last 13).
- Fleetwood have conceded 23 goals in their last 12 league games and the Gills have conceded 12 over the same number of matches. Fleetwood have kept just 1 clean sheet in their last 17 league games (conceding 31 goals in the process) after enjoying 4 clean sheets in the 6 games prior.

(15.02) Kick Off [ 3 - 4 - 1 - 2 ]

(15.11) Fleetwood work a good move in the box but shoot into the side netting.

(15.18) A whipped Fleetwood cross from the edge of the box just misses the outstretched legs of 2 attackers and goes wide.

(15.19) Key Goal! Shrewsbury Town 1-0 Doncaster
(15.21) Key Goal! AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Wycombe Wanderers

(15.27) Fleetwood should have made it 0-1 after a cross from the edge of the 6 yard box misses everyone and goes for a throw.

(15.36) Jackson crosses and finds Kelman with a free header but he heads down and its an easy one for the keeper.

(15.38) Kelman twice pulls the keeper out of goal but can't find a team mate and it's a corner.

(15.39) Fleetwood get pulled out of position again. A cross comes in for Oliver but it's a poor strike straight at the keeper.

(15.41) Key Goal! Morecambe 0-1 Portsmouth
(15.42) Key Goal! Shrewsbury Town 3-0 Doncaster Rovers

(15.50) Half time 0-0

(16.06) The second half kicks off.

(16.09) Fleetwood have a daisy cutter which is well held by Chapman. Any deflection and it is a goal.

(16.25) The Gills have a couple of efforts from a corner blocked before Oliver heads down brushing the side netting from 5 yards out.

(16.39) Red Card! Kelman wins a free kick after a challenge by Lane as both went for the ball. Unfortunately, the referee deems the coming together as studs up for both players and sends them off. Lane is stretchered to hospital and the game stops for several minutes.

(16.51) 10 minutes of stoppage time will be played.

(16.59) Key Goal! Morecambe 1-1 Portsmouth
(17.00) Key Goal! Shrewsbury Town 3-3 Doncaster Rovers

(17.02) FULL TIME 0-0
