[ 27 Nov 21 ] GILLS v Portsmouth Match Thread

- The Gills are winless in 4 meetings with Portsmouth and have won 9 of the 39 meetings. The visitors have won 20.
- The Gills beat Portsmouth at home back in March 1983 and since that match, Portsmouth have visited for 7 league matches and won 3 of them. The Gills won 2 of them and both wins were on Boxing Day (2018 and 2001).
- Portsmouth won their opening 3 league games and also their previous 3 (1-0, 2-1 and 3-0). They won 2 of the 13 in-between. They are unbeaten in their last 6 league games and have won 4 of them.
- In all competitions, Portsmouth won 2 out of 15 games before winning all of their last 5. They have scored 10 goals and conceded just 1 in those 5 games.
- After a spell of no away league wins in 7 (including 4 defeats), Portsmouth have won their last 2 without conceding and are unbeaten in 3 away from home.

(15.03) Portsmouth attempt to lob Cumming but the 'keeper gets fingertips to it and pushes the effort onto the bar.

(15.12) Cumming is called upon to make 2 fantastic saves.

(15.32) Portsmouth, on the edge of the box, turn and shoot at goal but the ball is just wide.

(15.35) Akinde shows his strength to hold off Ogilvie and is through one on one with the 'keeper. He takes it a little early and its a comfortable save.

(15.46) Half time 0-0

(16.04) The second half kicks off.

(16.05) Portsmouth go through with just Cumming to beat. Looking certain to score, Cumming stands tall and makes the crucial stop.

(16.17) Akinde goes through on goal, the 'keeper hesitates and then brings down the Gills striker. No penalty as the referee deems the 'keeper got the ball first and the Gills have a throw.

(16.29) Akinde plays a ball through to Lloyd in an excellent chance to score but on his wrong foot, he puts the ball wide.

(16.31) Straight from a goal kick, Lloyd receives the ball and shoots immediately on his preferred foot but its just over.

(16.44) Jackson messes up a clearance. The ref blows for a head injury to Ehmer and Portsmouth thump the ball in the net after the players stop.

(16.49) Former-Gills combine. Marlon Romeo finds Connor Ogilvie who drives a shot across the face of the goal and the Gills prevent a simple tap in.

(16.50) GOAL! Gillingham 0-1 Portsmouth: Tucker (OG)

(16.52) FULL TIME 0-1
Gills drop into the relegation zone after a 90+3rd minute winning goal.
