Nice three points for the Gills, now Mr Evans lets put in a call into Bristol Rovers and see what they want for Erhun Oztumer and Nicholson, with a bit of work they could be the one midfielder and goal scorer we need.

Striker Vadaine Oliver struck twice as Gillingham returned to league action with a win on Wednesday night.

Oliver opened the scoring with a well-taken goal in the first half and a brave header doubled the lead with 15 minutes left

Gillingham manager Steve Evans got the reaction he demanded and his only complaint was that they should have beaten Bristol Rovers by more.

Gillingham boss Steve Evans says he picked a defence to nullify the threat of their former striker Brandon Hanlan on Wednesday night and it paid off.

Connor Ogilvie was chosen to partner Jack Tucker at the back and the defensive pair helped ensure Bristol Rovers’ striker Hanlan barely had a sniff of goal.

Scott Robertson was a starter for the Gills again in midweek and boss Steve Evans reckons he’ll be in Celtic’s first team next season.

The 18-year-old loanee is yet to play in the Scottish Premiership for the reigning champions but Evans knows Celtic well - he’s a boyhood fan - and believes the midfielder has got what it takes to play in the top-flight.

Gillingham manager Steve Evans believes Jordan Graham’s injury absence won’t be a long one.

The 25-year-old missed the midweek trip to Bristol Rovers after suffering a hamstring injury in the weekend game against Exeter City.

Vadaine Oliver scored twice as Gillingham continued their recent improvement with victory at struggling Bristol Rovers.

A goal in either half from Vadaine Oliver was enough to secure all three points at the Memorial Stadium, as Gillingham defeated Bristol Rovers 2-0 following a fantastic team performance.

Gillingham recovered from the FA Cup exit at the weekend by continuing their remarkable recent record at the Memorial Ground as a Vadaine Oliver double saw off a Bristol Rovers side who now haven’t won in seven matches.

A very good response to the Exeter Cup defeat. We defended well, had a good tempo, and were the better Team.A defensive mistake lead to our first goal involving ex Gill Ehmer, and Oliver chipped their keeper to make it 0-1.You always want the second goal, and it came in the second half from that man Oliver again.A really good move by the Team, then a great cross from Dempsey who found Oliver to make it 0-2.He collided with the post after scoring, but luckily he was ok to continue.

Three points on the road,a clean sheet, and four games unbeaten in the League.Up to 12th,so it’s looking positive as we speak.Hopefully we can continue it against Swindon.
