[ 29 Dec 19 ] GILLS v Rochdale Match Thread

Postby Garawa » Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:48 am

- A Gills win today would make it 16 wins each with a further 17 ending level. It would be the Gills 2nd win in 6 after Rochdale had won 3 of the previous 5 meetings.
- The Gills last lost to Rochdale at Priestfield in September 2012. Since then, they have won 4 meetings (1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1) and drawn 1 which occurred last season.
- Rochdale have lost 7 of their last 8 league games (1 win) since winning 3 in a row. In all competitions, they have 4 wins in 13 (7 defeats) with 3 coming in cup games.
- Rochdale have won 1 and lost 3 of their last 4 away league games. They have won 4 away games compared to the Gills' 1 however they have lost 6 of their last 8.
- Half of Rochdale's last 8 away games have seen them concede 3 or more goals (including a 6-0 defeat at Peterborough). They have also conceded 3 goals in 3 of their last 4 league games home and away.
- The Gills are seeking their 7th consecutive home win. The last time they managed 7 in a row was September 2015 (crossing over from the previous season).

14.31

14.32
With the goal at his mercy, Lee blasts the ball straight at the 'keeper. After not much going on in the game, the Gills are turning up the pressure.

14.35
Hanlan's turn to hit the woodwork, this time smashing it against the underside of the bar and somehow doesn't cross the line.

14.39
Olly Lee is tripped inside the area but no penalty is awarded.

14.39

14.45
GOAL! Gillingham 1-0 Rochdale: Ogilvie

14.55

Why are Gillingham's games being played early some afternoons and evenings ? Have the trains stopped running to Gillingham or is the M2 dug up so away fans can not get thome from the game in a reasonable time to get their paper route done the next day , OR Is the Gills /Rochdale game on TV ?

I think its just because being the holidays and a Sunday. Trains are rubbish to Gillingham and I reckon they think more will turn up if home earlier and have work the next day.

It's not uncommon throughout the holiday season for some games to kick off early , if agreed between the two teams .

The game isn't on TV tomorrow , but you can livestream it via iFollow on the official site . Which is what i'll be doing , as I did with the Ipswich game

A win,and clean sheet to finish the year on.Sounds like we stepped it up in the second half, and were rewarded near the end.Ogilvie is getting better, and you can rely on him to grab a goal.7 straight wins at home in all competitions,we’re seeing Priestfield become a fortress again.
Noircat Premier League Champion 2007,and 2014.Noircat FA Cup (Runner Up 2014).Promoted to the Premier League (Runner Up 2017,and 2020 in the Championship).
