Including Div 3 (S) cup games and all various guises of the tournament, the Gills have met Millwall 3 times. All were away and all ended in defeat.

The Gills are looking for their first group stage win in this competition since beating Maidstone in the 1991/2 season (group stages ended in 95/6).

The Gills last away win in this cup came 2 seasons ago in a 2-1 win at Crawley, 1 of just 10 wins from 45 away ties.

The second game in our Group for the EFL Trophy.I personally have no interest in the competition this year due to the B Team`s in it,but I hope we can win and get some momentum again.Millwall themselves are not in good form, but they will want to get a win too.

What Team would you play? Would you risk a fine to rest an already threadbare squad? I imagine Nouble, and Herd will get minutes.

Pay the fine, field the scrubs and lets get on with the real season.
How out of touch is the FA to have done this to the EFL Cup. I suppose when you pay a bunch of old farts a lot of money to do nothing, they all get together every couple of years and say well I guess we have to do something to account for our pay checks, lets do something with say the League Cup , now one cares about that do they ?
Sort out the problems on the field that is making football difficult to watch at times, nah we don't want to get involved with that do we ??

What a splendid tournament this has been for us, I must congratulate the football authorities on devising such a valuable and progressive competition.

I don't know what the academy sides make of this as well. There have been 31 games involving the Under 23 sides and they have won just 9. Those 31 games saw them score 40 goals but 11 of them came from Norwich so in reality it is 29 goals from 29 games. Either these sides are no match for a Football League club or (and I suspect this is more the case) that they are seeing them as a better alternative to a friendly but aren't putting the effort in. I saw the goals from one of these games last night and there seemed little effort at all from the academy side to try and stop goals going in. Imagine that in the final!

A disappointing result after dominating the first half, and leading until a Nelson mistake in the 45th minute. That is our main problem at the moment where we keep making mistakes that is costing us games.Listening to Edinburgh after he sounded furious,so I expect there will be changes certainly when we have a fully fit squad.Nelson has been good since he came in for the injured Bond, but again a mistake which will unfortunately see him dropped soon I reckon.Pask as well has been involved in some of our recent defensive mistakes. We have gone out of the EFL Trophy as we cannot qualify from the group now,I wasn`t too worried personally as I absolutely hate B Teams being in this competition this season.Saying that with our poor form,a win would have been good going into Saturday`s big game v Oldham.
