The results are very even between the sides. There have been 26 draws, 27 Gills wins and 28 Colchester wins.

Colchester have conceded at least 3 goals in 9 of their last 12 league games. The Gills have done so 4 times all season.

Before today Colchester had let in 29 goals in the first half of league games, as many as the Gills in total.

In the top 4 divisions the Gills are the second highest scorers (45) & Colchester are the highest conceders (57).

When we lost to Colchester back in September they looked a class act,and went on a good run up the table.Recently they have gone on a bad run they now have a different manager and are bottom of the league. This is a side that have been a bogey side over the years,so hopefully that wont be the case tomorrow. If we could get the three points it would continue our brilliant Christmas.

I think Gillingham will line up as follows.......................

----------------------------------Nelson---------------------------------------
Jackson-------------Egan---------------------Oshilaja---------------Garmston
----------------------------------Wright------------------------------------------
---------------Hessenthaler-------------------A.Morris---------------------------
----------------------------------Dack---------------------------------------------
-------------------Samuel--------------------Donnelly---------------------------

Subs: G.Morris (GK), Ehmer, Osadebe, Loft, McGlashan, List, Norris

I think Justin Edinburgh will stick with the same team that won 3-1 against Swindon Town on Boxing Day, here's hoping that Gillingham can pick up another three points against Colchester United today - COME ON THE GILLS!!!!!!!!!

The first halves of recent home games have been appalling but largely we have got away with it! This whole game was pretty woeful. Apart from the head to head stats, all showed a not only a home banker but a large win to boot. Both sides hit the woodwork but it was Nelson that was easily the man of the match in my opinion with 2 world class point blank saves! This was a game we somehow won but in recent seasons we would have lost. Colchester did not look like a side at the bottom. They have always had a powerful and quick front 4 and they were no different today with Massey, Moncur, Porter and Sordell being very mobile and in all honesty running the show! This was very much 3 points won and was a much more satisfying victory than either of the 2 away games.

The big pluses are that title winning sides win ugly in games they are much the worse side in and we did that today. Also, after a terrible home result against Burton we responded with 3 wins including 2 large away wins against very tough sides. That is very encouraging if talking about any potential title challenge!

I was going by Twitter, but I kept reading about the good chances Colchester had. They certainly didn`t play like a side that had lost eight games in a row.You do get the luck when you`re at the top and us winning 1-0 with Nelson making 2-3 brilliant saves shows that. What a Christmas we`re having! 3 wins from 3,2 away at tough bogey grounds,7 goals scored, and only one goal conceded. It`s great to finish 2015 on a high.
