The Gills have won both their 2 cup games on the road this season.

This is the 4th time in the last 12 seasons in which we have been entered in the competition that we have faced Colchester. The last time we played was in 2009 when the Gills edged out Utd 4-3 on penalties at Priestfield. The last away game in this competition against them was a 5-1 win in 1998.

The Gills last 5 appearances in the 2nd round of the trophy have all been at home. The last away tie was in 1998, a 1-0 win at Swansea.

This is our 4th cup match this season and Colchester's 2nd after previously earning a bye in this tournament. They lost 4-0 to Charlton in the first round of the League Cup.

Colchester lost 4-2 at Preston before beating Crewe 3-0 and Orient 2-0 in their last 3 away league games. They are looking for their first home win of the season.

Brennan Dickenson is the only player to have featured in all of the Gills away matches so far this season.
