How's this for a bit of snobbery :-

I was in Aldi in Lichield today and overhead the well-dressed, well-spoken woman ahead of me at the checkout say on her mobile " Just in the queue at Waitrose".

She then proceeded to put her purchases in her Waitrose bags: I had to chuckle to myself

Lol that is funny.

I just always presumed people shopped at the nearest supermarket to their home.

If I ever saw a person with a bag from a shop out of town they were followed like a hawk as a shoplifter!

Just having a laugh reading some of these.
In Chicago the stores charge seven cents for each plastic bag you put your purchases in,the idea is that money goes to the city and cuts back on the use of plastic etc, etc. They don't charge for brown paper bags.
I think I am going to install some seats in our local Mariano's parking lot, rent them out for a few bucks an hour because it seems the most fun people have when there shopping is watching other people's paper bags split open , and the contents roll around the parking lot, Paper bags, frozen food, 90 degree heat outside, sometimes while there picking up the contents of the first broken bag a second will rip causing great merriment amongst the onlookers especially if the bag contains cans of soft drinks which roll in different directions under the cars.
